Chives

Indoor Care Instructions

Sun-  Place your Chive in a sunny spot in your home, it can grow in partial shade as well but will grower faster in full sun.

Soil-  Your Chive herb prefers rich soil

Water-  Chives are an easy going herb, so water minimally.

Water-  Chives are an easy to grow herb so only water when necessary, when the soil is completely dry.

Harvest-  It is very important to only harvest your Chives after your herb is completely established (normally about 6 weeks after planting) Cut off the stem as close to the soil as you can.

Chives- You can eat your Chives herbs fresh or you can freeze them.  I do not recommend drying your chives, they loose most of their flavor.

Lobster and Chive Bisque

​Ingredients

  • 1 cup lobster meat

  • 2 tablespoons minced onion

  • 5 tablespoons butter

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 3 cups milk

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

Directions

1. In a medium size pot, saute lobster meat, onion and butter until onions are soft.

2.  Stir flour into the pot. When all ingredients are well blended, add milk, salt and cream. Cook over a low heat until soup has thickened.

3.  Garnish soup with green onions before serving.
